Lazy River Pony Equine Experience

The Equine Experience at Lazy River Pony.

Horse Care and Preparation
Students learn the basic of grooming, feeding and caring for the horse. An awareness of the horse, and its interaction to the environment is one of the goals that we strive to achieve at Lazy River Pony. Students will be involved in the feeding, saddling and grooming process, be introduced to horse anatomy, proper handling and Balanced riding.

Basic Horsemanship

We teach body awareness, balanced and correct riding from the start. Our philosophy is really based on a harmonious experience between rider and horse. Students learn safety techniques such as falling off then rolling away from the horse and half flank off otherwise know as the emergency dismount. We have a relaxed pace and lots of experience to handle young and beginner riders.

Vaulting
One of the special things at Lazy River Pony is our involvement with horse vaulting and the American Vaulting Association. Aside from the traditional English saddle, we use a safer surcingle contraption. In Europe, vaulting is taught before horse back riding. Interested students can learn vaulting techniques both on the moving horse and a vaulting barrel. Vaulting is actually safer than horseback riding and is an excellent way to improve your athletic ability, confidence and flexibility.
